He seemed like he truly did care, and that was important to me. He knew them by first name, and they knew him. He stopped and communicated with every resident we came across. The thing that impressed me the most was the man who took us on the tour. The thing I liked about it was it's very close to my home, so it's easier to go and visit my mom. I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident I don't have to do that at Harmony because they are all handicap accessible. One thing that is very dangerous for me is to try to climb over the edge of the tub. That wasn't true at the more expensive older place. It would be so much better if they had built in a freight elevator.Īnother thing that I like is that all the showers are wheelchair accessible. I'm a little bit concerned because I'm paying the movers by the hour. So, the movers can't go in during that time. Unfortunately, three times a day they have meals. I'm hiring a moving company to move my belongings, and they only have one elevator for this four-story building. The only thing that I think would make it better would have been in their initial architectural planning if they had put in a freight elevator. I am renting a one-bedroom apartment, and I wanted a large balcony and lots of windows, and I got those. One woman about my age with the same background of mine said that I don't ever have to cook another meal, the food is so good. I asked about the food, they said it was delicious. I was waiting for the marketing director to take me on the tour. I did not try the food, but I had a chance to talk with some of the residents. There were Hispanic people, Jewish, white, and African Americans, as well as Asian people. I like the fact that the residents are multi-racial. Harmony is just two years old, and it has a very caring staff. The other place was much older, and it didn't have the safety features that I have to have. I knew exactly what I wanted, so I only toured this and one other place. So, the very afternoon that I filled out the questionnaire, Harmony called me, and several other places called me. I made my decision that because of my age, it's time for me to find a place other than this little house that I rent. I will be moving into Harmony at Greensboro. The staff members are very cooperative and very helpful, and if you make a call of a need, they're there. I've been here for quite some time and I've gotten to know everybody that services us on a first-name basis. You can be busy all day long if you want to. It's pretty much what you would normally get in other places. There are a variety of things to do, from music groups that come in, opportunities for learning, all kinds of games, and exercise programs. Since food prices have gone sky-high everywhere, there's been some adjustments. You have the option to go ahead and have breakfast or lunch and pay an extra fee for that. So whether you eat there or not, you pay. You're required to have dinner, as part of the fee that you pay. All of it is brand-new, it's less than two years old. My wife and I both live in Harmony at Greensboro's independent living, and we're happy with it. I felt like maybe a little more of their attention was spent on the assisted living section and not as much on memory care. The facility was just a little too big for what we needed. So, it seemed like it was an active cleanup zone. They had a pipe burst and they were currently in a construction piece where they were cordoning off certain sections. I liked that they have a good variety and you get to order. I was able to see when breakfast was being picked up and then lunch was being set down. I looked at the menu and I was there between the breakfast and the lunch. We also were checking in, as far as the amount of turnover that they have, and they were very accommodating for that. Everybody seemed very friendly, outgoing, very welcoming, and very knowledgeable about what their jobs were.Īt that point in time, we were just looking for the square footage and kind of looking to see what would be available. I was able to visit their memory care unit and everything was clean. Harmony at Greensboro was a big facility.
